Jill and I met through aviation and have always traveled around the country. Our most common destination is Florida, which is about an 1000 mile trip from our home in Detroit. Typically we are doing one of three things: buying tickets, jump seating, or driving long distance trips. We decided that there is an easier way of doing things. We plan to build an RV-8, which is the airplane pictured above. We decided on this airplane for many reasons. First, the cost for performance is excellent. There is not an aircraft of the market that can match the performance of the RV for the cost of the finished product. Another reason we decided upon this aircraft is the cost of operation is better than any certified aircraft. Since the aircraft is all metal, fixed gear, uses certified aircraft engines, and past RV history; the operation cost is kept low due to cheap insurance. Plus, this machine only burns approximately 9 gallons per hour!! As of June 5th our kit plane project has begun. The kit is really advanced from what we did years ago. I will Keep regular pictures posted. |
